Tips To Control Your High Blood Pressure.

1. You have high blood pressure If your systolic pressure (the top number) is over 140, and diastolic(the bottom number) is 90 or above.Make sure your blood pressure is under 140/90 mm Hg.

2.Blood pressure often increases as weight increases. . If you are overweight or obese, carrying this extra weight increases your risk of high blood pressure. Aim for a healthy weight.

3.Exercise regularly. Increase your physical activity. Do at least 30 minutes of moderate activity, such as walking, . You can do 30 minutes in three 10-minute segments.

4. Choose foods low in salt and sodium. Numerous researchers have pointed to garlic's ability to lower blood pressure. It also makes a fabulous flavor replacement when you're cutting back on salt.

5. Read nutrition labels. Almost all packaged foods contain sodium. Every time you prepare or eat a packaged food, know how much sodium is in one serving.. Use spices and herbs instead of salt to season the food you prepare at home.

6. Eat more fruits, vegetables, grains, and low-fat dairy foods. Cut back on sweets and sugary beverages.

7. Quit smoking and alcohol.

9. Buy a home blood pressure monitor. Measure your blood pressure yourself, same time each day.

10. MOST IMPORTANT:..Take your medicine regularly according to the doctors advice...do not stop medicine even if the the blood presuure is normal..the problem that can occur if you stop taking your medicine is a rebound phenomenon, in which your blood pressure rises to a higher level than it was before you started taking the drug.
