“Erotomania” Is A Dilution Of Love
Erotomania
Erotomania
or Clerambault’s Syndrome refers to a psychological condition in which
the person who is affected has delusions that the one he is affected to
feels the same for him or her. This is also called love obsession.
The obsession of love by the affected person towards his/her love gets
intensified when the person expresses his/her dislike towards this
affected person. The person they love don’t reciprocate the same feeling
for them due to which they get aggressive and in order to be with the
one they love, they tend to stalk the person/objects they love. Such
delusions are seen in the patients with schizophrenia or bipolar
disorders.

SYMPTOMS:
1. Delusions are the main symptom of this psychological condition of the victim. 2. Harassing/Aggressive Behavior : In this condition, the affected person tends to harass the person they love because they cannot accept the fact that the person they love does not love him. This fact makes them aggressive and they tend to stalk the person they desire to be with. This affected person assumes as if they are living a normal romantic life and they are in a relationship where they exchange phone calls, letters and flowers.
3. Stalking: this is a symptom which can be shown through some special signals or mental telepathy.
What Causes Erotomania?
Erotomania is quite mysterious and there has been many of its kind. Psychologist can only draw hypotheses. The most weird theory that has took place is that it starts taking place in the childhood due to lack of love and affection. Those who are deprived of affection since their childhood often face this condition. For females, lack of affection from father is considered one of the main causes, while on the other hand it (Erotomania) is generally seen in men. So we can say that lack of love and affection from mother causes this condition in men and therefore they become aggressive.
CURE
Through
pharmacological therapy we can try to fix this condition. If the person
has been deprived of affection from the family, then more focus should
be given to the person and parents must love their children and focus on
it since their childhood. Some antipsychotic drugs can
help to manage the symptoms of delusions. There is no concrete way to
prevent or cure such delusional disorder, however, early diagnosis and
analyzing the symptoms can help reducing the risk of disrupting or
screwing one person’s life.
